Arnold Schwarzenegger may have played Hercules, Conan the Barbarian, the Terminator, and even Mr. Freeze on film, but there’s one position he’s not cut out for in real life: President of the United States.

Though the 76-year-old actor and former California governor passes the minimum age requirement (35), and has lived in the United States for 14 years, he is not a natural born citizen, which prevents him from serving as Commander in Chief. While Schwarzenegger believes he could have done the job, he doesn’t let the missed opportunity bother him, he said Wednesday on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show.

“Everything that I’ve accomplished in my life – if it’s the body building career, if it’s the movie career, becoming governor, setting up my (USC Schwarzenegger Institute for State and Global Policy), all of this stuff, the millions of dollars that I’ve made and everything – all are because of America,” Schwarzenegger said in an interview with Stern. “So why should I now bemoan the one thing I can’t do?” Because it’s the one thing I’m incapable of.”

Just because Schwarzenegger has accepted it doesn’t mean he hasn’t considered running for President.

“I think I would’ve made a great president,” he was quoted as saying. “I think that I have the energy and the will to bring people together.”

Stern predicted that Schwarzenegger would win.

“Of course you think about it,” confessed Schwarzenegger. “You are completely correct, because so many people approach me and say, ‘Oh, I wish you could be our president,’ or something along those lines. So, naturally, you think about it.”

Instead of being resentful of the law, Schwarzenegger said he concentrates on other areas where he can make a difference, such as the environment and bringing Republicans and Democrats together.

“As I said in my book (presumably his latest, ‘Be Useful: Seven Tools for Life’), ‘Tear down that mirror,’ which means stop looking at yourself and look beyond that mirror and see the millions of people that need your help,” he was quoted as saying. “There are so many people in America who need help.” So, instead of focusing just on ourselves, I believe we should all focus on assisting those in need.” (Arnold Schwarzenegger)
